LAURA
English / Writing / ESL / SAT/ General High School Tutor
Laura graduated from Stanford University with Honors in Modern Thought and
Literature and was initiated into the nationwide honors society, Phi Beta Kappa.
She has always loved reading and writing, and has written and edited for
publications as various as her high school newspaper and The New York Times
on the Web, where she most recently edited event previews for
NewYorkToday.com and the popular "Apartment Envy" column. Before The
Times, she worked at the online versions of The Wall Street Journal and
Newsweek.
Prior to her work in journalism, she taught English as a second language to
elementary, middle and high school students in Indonesia and gave private
tutoring lessons. While at Stanford, she also tutored high school students in
every subject from geometry to history.
She was accepted to every college she applied to: Stanford, Harvard,
Williams, Brown, University of Chicago. SAT score 1580 by the
current scoring system
BRIAN
French/ English/ Writing
Brian graduated from Purdue
University with a B.A. in English Literature. He went on to study French
language and literature at the Sorbonne in France and received his M.A. in
French Literature at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. Brian spent
seven years in Europe where he taught French and English and worked as a
freelance writer. Most recently he worked as a writer for PBS and Channel
Thirteen in New York, writing program descriptions for their Web sites and other
promotional materials for new PBS productions. He is currently a writer for an
Internet company that provides e-syndicated articles to Web sites across the
world.
He keeps in touch with the French culture through movies and the
radio and enjoys speaking and tutoring French in his spare time.
SARAH
Math /SAT /GRE /German /Italian /Hebrew /Latin /Greek
Sarah graduated from Yale
University earning a B.A. with distinctions. She attended Princeton University to pursue a Ph.D. in
Philosophy, with strong board scores (GRE 800 V, 770 M, 750 A).
She is accomplished and comfortable
tutoring in algebra, geometry, SAT, writing, several languages, and all
humanities courses.
Sarah is currently involved with charitable
and non-profit organizations.
